Michel didnât abandon the trade altogether, however. A federal record of licenses granted to fur traders shows that in 1831, Michel, listed as âMichael Cadotte, sen.,â still had a license to trade at La Pointe on Madeline Island. In the same document, Lyman Warren also received a license to trade at La Pointe, while one of Michelâs sons, listed as âMichael Cadotte jr.,â received a license to trade at the Montreal River in northern Wisconsin.43
